Eye Examinations

We are pleased to offer Private Eye Examinations and NHS eye tests, for both children and adults.

At Nicholson Eyecare we offer the best clinical service with our Enhanced Eye Examinations. We encourage everyone to have an Enhanced Eye Examination when they book with us. The Enhanced Examination lasts 45-60 minutes and is a very detailed examination of your eyes. It gives us plenty of time to discuss your eye history and cover any problems or concerns. This is especially important if you have had eye problems in the past or have concerns at present. OCT scans are included as part of the Enhanced Examination.

Why is an OCT scan important?

It gives us more information about the health of your eye and can make it possible to detect eye conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration at an early stage. This allows us to refer you to a specialist for early diagnosis and treatment. It also allows us to monitor conditions.

Who would benefit from an Enhanced Examination?

Almost everyone! However, there are some people for whom it is especially important:

  • Family history of glaucoma
  • Diabetics
  • Those with a current eye condition that needs monitoring.
  • Those with a history of eye problems.
  • A health care professional has recommended it.
  • Those who need extra time to discuss their concerns.
  • Those with multiple health or eye issues.
  • Those who want peace of mind.
